Clubnight format varies depending on how many people turn up. We generally play a variation of a couple of formats:
Standard Pegboard and Winners go up / Losers go down
Please be considerate and pick from the first 8 names where possible.
To ensure balanced and enjoyable games with an even standard of players, please do not be offended if you are overlooked for a particular game.
Likewise, it causes resentment among players if you continually overlook people and pick from too far back in the queue.
Be considerate and make sure no-one sits more than one game out.
Want a break? Take your peg off. Re-join at the back of the queue when you are ready.
Don't fancy picking? Let the person next in line pick. You must sit out the game but remain at the front of the queue.

Write your name on a peg.
Optionally, write your ability on your peg too:
C = Beginner
B = Intermediate (BadmintonScotland Copper)
A= Advanced (BadmintonScotland Bronze+)
This just helps pick even games if you don't know people.
Place your peg at the back (left) of the 'Waiting queue'.
The person at the front of the queue ("next pick") chooses themself and three other people to play a game. Their pegs are moved to a free court slot.
The person now NEXT in the waiting queue picks their next game, etc until all courts are full.
Games played to 21 with setting, or 15 if there are lots of people waiting.
Move your pegs to the back of the waiting queue, winners placed before losers.
*** It is your own responsibility to ensure your name is returned to the waiting queue on the board!***
TL;DR:
Like above, each court has its own mini-queue. If you win, join the queue for the next court up. If you lose, join the queue for the next court down.
Write your name on a peg.
Place your peg at the back of one of the WAITING courts (bottom rung), making sure to balance out the number of people waiting for each court.
If you have a choice of courts, please make an honest assessment of your relative ability and place your peg in a suitable starting position. Ask for guidance if necessary.
All games start and finish at the same time!
Games are to 21 points, and the first court in the hall to reach 21 calls "TIME".
All games then stop! Finish your rally if you are mid-point.
Whoever has the highest score (or the first to reach the score if tied) is the winner.
Starting with the lowest court:
Move the winning pair to the back of the waiting queue for the next court UP.
Move the losing pair to the waiting queue for the next court DOWN (or to the back of the same court queue if already at the bottom)
Repeat for the next highest court - winners UP (or to the back of the same court queue if already at the top), losers DOWN.
The first 4 names on the waiting rung for each court are then moved to the PLAYING rung, and start their games, following this rule:
play AGAINST the person you just played WITH, if it's the same partners as the previous game.
otherwise, it's an honesty policy to decide who plays with who:
Make the fairest match you can based on who is on court, bearing in mind the rule above
Mix up the players on court if you have already played with/against someone recently.
